We welcome everyone just as our Father welcomed home His prodigal son. Without judgment, chastisement, and punishment. Only the running, relentless love toward a lost child. He is the Hound of Heaven.
Faith, Hope, and Love
Faith, Hope, and Love are the very nature of God, and thus the nature of all Being. Each of these Three Great Virtues must always include the other two in order to be authentic: love is always hopeful and faithful, hope is always loving and faithful, and faith is always loving and hopeful. They are the very nature of God and thus of all Being.
Faith
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
2 Corinthians 5:7.
HOPE
The Father and I are one.
John 10:30
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.
Philippians 2:5-6
Love
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
John 4:18
God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
1 John 4:16
Latest From Our Blog
My posts will reflect my journey into the stages of my faith. Here, I hope, to record my current understanding knowing that my ideas are malleable. Jesus Christ is the Word and as such, I look to Him to interpret scripture. I use a Christo-centric lens or cruciform hermeneutic to interpret the inspired Bible. Jesus is not coequal with the Bible, rather, He is the Logos. So here we go!
Flames of Love (A Book Review)
Author Heath Bradley wrote in the Preface to this 2012 book, Flames of Love, “this book is the fruit of wrestling with the spirit of the risen Jesus and refusing to let go until I received a blessing…. It has come in the form of a distinctively Christian vision of...
The Ultimate Good
My pastor, taking a cue from A.W. Tozer, always said how my view of God is of utmost importance. I held to his beliefs that all of God's attributes were equally held as 100% concurrently (wrath, justice, mercy, love, etc.). It was forbidden to elevate one attribute...
Our Story
I use the term “Our Story” because it is, indeed, a story of community. The Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and me. I have been invited to the Cosmic Dance of Trinitarian Love. The invitation is open to all. My hope is that during my DR journey (Deconstruction/Reconstruction) that you, too, will join us, kick off your shoes, and dance the night away.
The premise is God’s essential character is Love and out of this relentless Love, all His other attributes flow. Why would He create loathsome spiders dangling above a fiery pit just to destroy His exceedingly good creation? Our ABBA is a Creator, a Supreme Artist who has made masterpieces in you and me. This was my initial doubt: why would a loving Father select some before all time to enjoy eternal bliss with Him, while in the same predestined breath earmark most of His creation to eternal conscious torment? Wouldn’t that be unjust?
Here We are going to struggle, doubt, and question orthodoxy. You don’t need to agree with what I am writing, in fact, you may disagree with most (or all) I have to say. I expect my understanding will change over time; a certain sign of growth. I agree with Pete Enns in his wonderfully enlightening book “The Sin of Certainty”. I find certainty comfortable and dangerous. But if you are not entirely certain and have questions (and doubts) it is my sincere desire We take the trip together. You are not alone.
